  • Pop wrote this was the ‘Below the Aswan Dam”  - he must have meant the Low Aswan Dam “The British began construction of the first dam across the Nile in 1898. Construction lasted until 1902, and the dam was opened on 10 December 1902”  The high dam, the big one, was built in the 1960’s  <br />

You will notice in this photo the water is capture pretty much without movement – at least compared to my last post of the Nile River.  Having been taken in 1916 I’m still wondering if the photographer deliberately slowed down the shutter speed – if he could. That would be fantastic way back then. <br />
<br />
According to an advertisement I found for compact Kodak camera from the it had a shutter speed of 1/25, 1/50 and 1/100th  I’m guessing that is still now slow enough even at 1/25 to get the movement in the Nile shot.  I’ve become fascinated with this now. It’s like my own little discovery. Did he do it or not?
